Comentário: The pop viciousness exuding from Elastica's pores far surpasses any qualities thus far exhibited in Britain's "new glam" movement. One time Suede member (pre-"London" era) Justine Frischmann and Donna Matthews weave together assorted guitar and vocal textures, recalling various levels of pop genius in a disdainful, Kinks-esque tone.
Frischmann's dry lyrics are deliciously biting. Her sarcastic take on stardom ("if I can't be a star I won't get out of bed"), groupies ("Drivel head knows all the stars/Loves to suck their shining guitars"), and impotence ("no need to whine boy") are all icily casual. Musically, Elastica is a pop lover's dream. Combining a Buzzcocks-tight rhythm section with enviable guitar delirium, Elastica's grip on pop sensibility is dead-center.
What sets the band apart from their peers is their unstoppable wit. Already stars in their native England, Elastica have gotten it all but have also maintained a fabulously jaded perspective in regards to their desires--as Frischmann herself points out in "Waking Up," all she needs is "a guitar and a lover who pays me." E já q eu já me deliciei e me diverti (e muito!) tanto com os maravilhosos albuns disponibilizados com tanta bondade (óohh! hahaha) por vcs, e com os posts e ótimos comentários, eis aqui uma singela contribuição de uma frequentadora, agora assídua, do blog.
Empreguei meu inglês mediano pra traduzir esse post, já q ninguem teve a decência de o fazer antes. Nao tá lá aquelas coisas, mas acho q dá pro gasto.

As letras secas de Frischmann são deliciosamente provocantes. Seu sarcamo sobre estrelato ("if I can't be a star I won't get out of bed", algo como "se não posso ser uma estrela, nem sairei da cama"), groupies ("Drivel head knows all the stars/Loves to suck their shining guitars", "o cabeça babão conhece todas as estrelas/ama chupar suas guitarras brilhantes"), e impotência ("no need to whine boy", "não precisa se lamentar, garoto"), é sempre friamente casual. Musicalmente, o Elastica é um sonho dos amantes do pop. Combinando um som barulhento com invejáveis delírios de guitarra, o poder do Elastica sobre a sensibilidade pop é 'dead-center'.
O que separa a banda de seus semelhantes é seu humor inesgotável. Já estrelas em sua casa, Inglaterra, o Elastica conseguiram tudo, mas também mantiveram uma perspectiva fabulosamente gasta, respeitando seus desejos - como Frischmann mesma mostra em "Waking up", tudo o que ela precisa é "a guitar and a lover who pays me.", ou "uma guitarra e um amante que me paguem."
